Have advanced training in Klingon. Please see this log excerpt for details of current staff introduced by Clive Youngblood. Communications System - back The main communications array for New Darwin was designed and installed by Lieutenant Clive Youngblood in 2157. "Clive's 'baby' was the singular Class A satellite in geosynchronous orbit over the new command facility. It was the hub, the external server of all inbound and outbound communication. It could handle many times over the bandwidth strain they would be putting on it, but Clive expected New Darwin to scale considerably over the never few years." - Lt Youngblood, 5th Dec 2157 Planetside there is one main, visible communications tower. It is the redundancy for the Class A satellite in orbit. This provides a secondary communication technology to fall back on when the going gets rough. There is also a separate, secure site, an emergency facility. Its location is known only by senior staff. This operates about half strength but has the ability to contact Starfleet in emergencies. It can also launch a physical emergency beacon, calling for help and sending a message to Starfleet giving them details if the communications are scrambled or blocked. The primary workload of communications will be done via one satellite dedicated to communications. It is a "Class A" satellite, with specifications below. This one central unit manages everything, like a server. If New Darwin were to grow in size and importance this technology can be scaled. Other than that modules could be added to existing satellites (weather / science / etc) that are or will be orbiting the planet. The module is a standard add-on to relay communications signals. Satellites 1 Class A Communication Satellite - Main module for all inbound and outbound communication - Geosynchronous orbit over new command facility - Equipped with 2 telescopes (one toward planet, the other toward space) - "Future-Proof" technology (allows for remote upgrading) - Solar charged batteries - Back-up power - Maneuvering thrusters 5 Class C Communication Satellites Module - Relay of communications data (From planet to local network) All satellites have: - Solar charged batteries - Back-up power - Maneuvering thrusters Other Orbital Systems - back There are other satellites in orbit which provide New Darwin with long and short range sensors. These require routine maintenance and upgrades to ensure they are kept up-to-date and in full working order. There are plans to create a space platform which can be manned and contain more extensive equipment. Medical Department- back Medical Staff - back Dr. Vorgon was the first Vulcan officer to serve on New Darwin, as Chief Medical Officer. He introduced some members to the team at the infirmary and medical centre. Please see this log excerpt for details. Armoury Department- back
Looks after ALL colony security, not just the armoury department but has a broader view of all departments and security processes, for example the Arrival of VIP's, On going security of the GS system, Security of new establishments and future colonisation. They Usually patrol in a six person team, or two person teams depending on the location and what’s going on. Every member of the security team is crossed trained in Comm’s and Medical. LtCmdr. Fisher wanted his teams to be able to handle any situation they found their selves in. The crew are all highly trained in the latest Starfleet techniques, both Starfleet and Daliwakans alike. Tactical Response Team - back The TRT is loosely based on the SWAT teams that where on earth back in the 20th and 21st centuries. Its only a small team made up of experts in the fields of Comm’s, Medical and Security. They are subjected to more brutal and specialised training then the other Security personnel. ( TRT Tactical Response Team.) is an elite unit, which is trained to perform exceptionally dangerous, high-risk, counter-terrorism operations that fall outside of the abilities of patrol Personnel. These can include serving high-risk arrest warrants, performing hostage rescue and/or armed intervention, preventing, and engaging heavily-armed criminals.)
