| Science Officer followed up the trail with more tests before being re-assigned unable to complete her work. Thus far a reasonable work around has been developed to enable the colonisation and use of equipment. But its also been said that some areas of the planet are too high in the concentration of the mineral... equipment simply ceases to function. This has rendered scans of some regions open to fault. As further understanding of the mineral develops it is hoped that it can be extracted from the rocks and sold in the developing trade markets. |

| It was first called Thalium by Orion miners and slave traders when they obtained a way to extract the substance from the rocks on GSVI D. Mutated Fungus Daliwakans who hid in caves near the main colony before Starfleet arrived were infected with the spores of a mutated fungus. This caused increased paranoia and hallucinations amongst about 30 Daliwakans. Lieutenant Blokpoel, Chief Science at the time eventually discovered a cure with the help of Ensign Lang, Chief Medical. Only one Human case of infection was reported in Lieutenant Sam Fisher. He was also cured. |
