Hickey was born on 18th November 2146 in the City of Dublin on Sean Hickey a pub owner and Elizabeth Hickey a writer. He has an elder brother who is an actor. Hickey has tried to prove himself to his family all his life and show his brother he is just as good as him. At first he tried to do it with sports but after a knee injury in his first year of secondary school ended his sports career Hickey started to concrete more on his education. While recovering from his injury Hickey take up wood craving in his space time. Unsure what to do when he left college, Hickey remember how excited and proud he was when the Enterprise NX-01 was launched and decided to enlist in Starfleet to become part of something bigger than himself.

Hickey is a shy person who is nervous around woman. He sometimes speaks really fast when he feels under pressure or will stammer when he feel nervous. He was raised as a Roman Catholic but has also looked into Buddhism. He often likes to have a drink, his favourite being Bulmer or Kopparberg Classics Ciders. He doesn’t like Hospitals as he hates their relationship with death, as his Grandparents all died in a hospital. He is a great fan of Classic and Jazz Music and also has some examples of 21st Century music.
