Personality, Traits, and Characteristics: Wildly intelligent, Carter tends to be out spoken with a touch of the exhibitionist, though still grounded with an easy going demeanor. Good at getting people to drop their guard with his smile and natural charisma, he is not above using this quality to gain an advantage for himself. Tends toward a single mindedness when there is a goal involved.

Carries the reputation as something of a "ladies man" though he is not actually prone to promiscuity. Honorable and loyal, Carter is the modern equivalent of the southern gentleman.

Since distancing himself from his family, Carter very seldom mentions them, or their fortune, preferring to make his way on his own merits.

Carter is an accomplished guitarist, singer and songwriter, and in his downtime can generally be found either fiddling with his favorite "axe" or listening to music. He has a fair sized collection of vintage vinyl "records" which he likes to listen to, claiming that they give a better depth of sound.

Though southern, Carter has taken steps to eliminate his accent though it tends to creep back in from time to time, especially when he is attempting to be disarming, or when he is agitated or distracted, something he calls "getting his southern up."

Carter is a brilliant scientist, having been groomed by his father to take over Austin Trans Galactic, he personally enjoys archeology as he has always evidenced a great respect for history. He is weak in the area of languages however, and it usually takes some time for him to process a new dialect.

History: Carter was born to one of Atlanta's wealthiest families. His father, Ambrose, owns Austin Trans Galactic Minerals, a massive mining and shipping conglomerate which serves earth and most of the surrounding colonies. His mother, Claire was active in local politics, at one point even being elected mayor of Atlanta.

Carter's parents had little time for the burdens of child rearing, both being so career oriented, so he and his little sister Lyssa were raised much of their lives by nannies and nursemaids, and it is from them that Carter truly developed his character and moral compass.

Carter had always been a bright boy, and during his teens, his father began the process of grooming him to take over Austin Trans Galactic as his heir. To that end, Carter was enrolled in accelerated programs in geology and mineralogy at Georgia Tech. He took well to his studies, achieving his PHD by the age of 17.

It was then that things began to go wrong with his father's plan. While in college, Carter had developed an interest in music. He formed a band which became popular, standing on the edge of a major recording contract. However, his father, ruthless as he was, would have nothing stand in the way of grooming his heir and so used his influence to get the band black listed.

Disheartened, Carter began to take an interest in history, the past just somehow seemed to call to him. His father, seeing a means to keep him under control, encouraged his son's new interest, finally enrolling him in the university of Egypt in Cairo, where Carter managed to earn his second PHD, this time in archeology.

It was at this time that Carter discovered his father's hand in the end of his music career. Carter flew into a rage, denouncing his father and his family, finally fleeing to the one place that his father's money and power couldn't touch him. Starfleet.
